3 fun crafts made from recycled materials

1. Rainbow caterpillar
Egg cartons can be transformed into a variety of insects and animals. The egg carton project I like best is this rainbow caterpillar. This craft is perfect if you’re searching for something to make quickly and easily!
Materials
Egg carton Scissors Acrylic paint in white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple
Paintbrush
pipe cleaner in black
Pencil
Glue
squinty eyes
the colour black
Directions
Remove the top of the egg carton. To divide the egg carton into two pieces, make a cut through the centre of the carton. There should be six cups each piece.
Decorate one egg carton with white paint. Paint each cup a different shade to create a rainbow effect after it has completely dried.
Cut a black pipe cleaner into two little pieces. Create antennae by curving the tops. Make a small hole for each antenna with the pencil at the top of the caterpillar’s head, and then carefully insert the pipe cleaners. To make sure they remain in place, you can also glue them.
Glue 2 small googly eyes to the caterpillar’s head.
Once you’ve added a smile with the black marker, your rainbow caterpillar is complete! You can create green caterpillars or use different hues!
2. Cute owl
Making these owls is so much fun! You can make a tonne of these lovely creatures with paper rolls, newspaper, and cardboard. Paint the entire paper roll in a single colour, add googly eyes, or even make feathers to create original designs.

Choose the colour you want your owl’s front to be, then paint a piece of newspaper that hue.

Bend the top of the paper roll inward on both sides to create the owl’s ears. To prevent the paper roll from folding in too far, bend just a tiny bit from the top.

From your newspaper, cut an oval shape, then attach it to the front of the paper roll. If necessary, cut the bottom off.

Use the tip of a small glue stick or something comparable circle shape to trace two circles onto the white cardboard to serve as the eyes. Delete them. Add a little dot with the black ink after adhering the eyeballs to the paper roll’s top.

Fold a little piece of orange cardboard over to create the beak. At the point where you made the fold, draw a small triangle shape and then cut it out. Under the eyes, glue this.

Draw a wing shape on a piece of cardboard and cut it out to use as the wings. Then create another one using that shape, cutting it out as well. Attach the owl’s wings with glue on both sides.
3. Bottle cap bees

Making these buzzing bees is really simple! Keep a few yellow bottle caps, then act as though you’re flying them into the bubble wrap honeycomb.

Draw a honeycomb pattern with the pencil on the cardboard, then cut it out.

On top of the cardboard, glue a piece of bubble wrap, and then cut the bubble wrap to size by trimming the edges.

Wrap the bubbles in yellow paint. Use cardboard or the brown cardstock to cut out a little circle. on create the entrance for the bees, glue this on the honeycomb. On the yellow bottle caps, use the permanent marker to create black stripes to make the bees. Black paint can be used to add the stripes as well.
