Swimwear from Body Party, one of the coolest products we’ve highlighted, is constructed from recycled fishnets. We should look for ways to recycle the garbage that is used close to bodies of water, as the Philippines is one of the countries that pollutes the ocean the most. Body Party is a 2015-founded company whose clothing is made from fishnets. Fishnets make about ten percent of marine debris, but these bikinis, which are distinctly Filipino, are a great way to repurpose them.
PARKLAND
Parkland is a Canadian-originated brand that is obtainable in the Philippines. The polyester used in their 2018 Spring collection is composed entirely of recycled plastic bottles. Twelve plastic bottles are used to manufacture each bag; these bottles are shredded into tiny pieces and melted to create the threads that comprise the entire fabric.
RALPH LAUREN
With their iconic polos, major fashion company Ralph Lauren is also a part of the eco-revolution. Every polo created in collaboration with a First Mile organisation is constructed from twelve plastic bottles. By 2026, the company promises to remove 170 million bottles from the seas and landfills.
SORA
You may be familiar with Sora if you enjoy yoga or going to the beach. The material for each towel is eight plastic bottles. The company makes sure that even their business cards and packaging are created responsibly, and they are always looking for methods to reduce their carbon footprint! Additionally, they reassure their customers that even though each towel is made of plastic, it still dries quickly and is quite absorbent.
ADIDAS
adidas has pledged to produce 11 million plastic-made pairs of shoes in an effort to reduce the amount of plastic debris that ends up in the ocean. By now, the company’s offices, retail locations, warehouses, and distribution centres have saved forty tonnes of plastic waste. In addition to using recycled materials, they are reducing CO2 emissions, eliminating waste, and figuring out how to employ other sustainable resources.
BAG-O
Based in Bago City, Negros Occidental, Bag-o is proudly created in the Philippines. Each bag costs between Php30 and Php1000 and is created from crocheted discarded plastic bags. Through their trash-to-treasure method, the firm guarantees that the plastic is chosen appropriately, cleaned, and each thread is crocheted together.
WINDER
Winder Recycling Company recycles plastic trash to produce chairs. The Davao-based company uses 300 water bottles, 2,158 sando bags, or 10,000 candy wrappers to construct one recliner. Every armchair is in use in Philippine public schools. A 13-kilogram chair can be created from 30 kilogrammes of raw plastic materials, and the business can replace the damaged pieces.
Do you know of any more companies that make things with recycled plastic? Could you please share them with us?
